Let’s not beat around the bush..
If you own a business that uses or produces a lot of silicone-based items, you might be tempted to get your own silicon injection molding machine. While you think you might save you a lot of money in the long run, you’re also overlooking the amount of money it takes to maintain injection molding machines and the manpower it takes to oversee the silicone injection molding process.
This whole process isn’t for novices and you need an expert to look after the machine and see to its day to day running. The amount of money it will take to engage the services of this expert or the amount of money it will take for you to get trained can quickly accrue.
So what’s the solution? Outsource the process instead (and do it surprisingly cheaply).
There are a few reasons it’s better to outsource silicone molding instead of purchasing a silicone injection molding machine yourself. Here are four of the most valid ones:
Liquid silicone molding requires a very high level of expertise. For this reason, it’s better left to skilled, highly-trained professionals. If you operate the silicone injection molding machine without the required expertise, you’re going to end up causing yourself lots of problems, wasting time and money in the process.
Apart from the expertise needed to handle the equipment, you also need to have a broad knowledge/understanding of the different types of silicones available and the right one for each type of product you want to fabricate. If you use a low-quality material or the wrong silicone for the type of product you want to produce, defects are unavoidable.
Silicone injection molding takes a lot of time and energy. Purchasing the machine and raw silicone (you need different types for different products, so you have to purchase a variety of materials in advance) costs a lot of money. Save your money, time, and energy by outsourcing to cost-effective companies (like us here at JCAD-Inc.!).
No matter how compact and contemporary a silicone injection molding machine is, it requires space. It’s great if you have that space, but also consider the space that’s going to be required around the machine (not to mention the ventilation) needed to ensure the safety of using the machine when it’s in use.
This isn’t something you can quickly clean in 10 minutes. A silicone injection molding machine can cause lots of mess and it’s not that easy to clean. If your schedule is jam-packed, the last thing you want to spend your precious time on is cleaning a big machine you’re only going to use intermittently. Outsource your manufacturing and leave the dirty work to someone else!
So, there you have it. All the reasons why purchasing a silicone injection molding machine is actually a bad idea. If you have seen a company or an individual you’re going buy a silicone injection molding machine from, this article has hopefully given you pause to twice before that purchase. Outsource your silicone injection molding to professionals like us in order to save your time, energy, and money. Just ask us for a quote, we’ll be glad to help you with your project.
